In 2007, a small group of medical students noticed a gap to be bridged—between the healthcare system and residents who needed but could not access healthcare.
And so, with little more than conviction and a stethoscope or two, and with hardly any formal backing, the few of them started reaching out to these residents: one by one, door by door, offering simple health checks, a reassuring presence, and the promise of continued care.
That was how NHS began—quietly, personally, and from the ground up.
Fast forward 18 years: what started as a handful of passionate students has grown into a team of ~50 members from NUS Nursing, NUS Medicine and LKCMedicine. We still go door to door; and we carry the same commitment of meeting residents where they are—as individuals with stories, strengths and struggles that often go unseen.
Before we dive into the nuts and bolts of NHS today, here is a short video that captures the heart of what NHS is all about ♥️🏠
